Association Health Insurance 101

What are REAL options for staff and members of associations in 2024?

Online webinar (OSAP member offering)

Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data reveal that health insurance is typically an employer's single largest individual benefits expense, comprising roughly 26 percent of all benefits-related costs per employee.

Associations and membership organizations, like many other employers, face the same challenges regarding health insurance, including how to offer this cost-effectively to their employees and the additional need related to assisting their members in accessing affordable health coverage solutions as part of a member benefit program. As seasoned experts in the field, LIG Solutions understands this shared struggle and can help you navigate it in this educational webinar.

Health insurance, a complex element of employer and member benefits, can be simplified. This webinar, provided complimentary to OSAP members by LIG Solutions, is designed to help you understand the multiple health coverage solutions available and provide practical tips to make the process less daunting. By the end of this webinar, you will be empowered to make informed decisions about health coverage for your employees and members.

In this comprehensive presentation, presenters will explore a wide range of health coverage options available in the market today. They will start with options for individuals and families, such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), short-term, MEC and Medicare. Then, they will delve into employer-sponsored options, including traditional group health plans, ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements), QSEHRA (Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement), PEO (Professional Employer Organization), MEWA (multiple employer welfare arrangements), pooled plans (PEP) and other employer options.

Please select this link to register (note: you will be redirected to a site outside of OSAP).

The presenters will dive into more than just the major medical solutions mentioned above and look at supplemental or voluntary benefits like dental, vision, critical illness and hospitalization, and even look at COBRA alternatives, solutions for non-benefit eligible employees and Medicare education programs for those 65 and over (i.e., what should happen for Medicare-eligible employees and even members when it comes to how Medicare works with traditional group health insurance).

Finally, presenters will look at the status of some of the recent changes announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Labor (DOL) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that impact association health plans (AHPs), short-term coverage, fixed indemnity excepted benefits coverage, and even how the American Rescue Plan (ARP/COVID relief) impacted/continues to impact health coverage options with subsidies and the unwinding of Medicaid, for example.

PLEASE NOTE: This webinar is presented by LIG Solutions, a national health insurance broker; it is intended to be an educational session about the current health insurance landscape for associations and their members. This will NOT be a sales presentation for the LIG Association Health program. LIG Solutions is still happy to answer any questions about its solution and how they can help your organization and your membership outside of this presentation.
