Director of Association Management

Position Summary:

Thomas P. Pappas & Associates is searching for an energetic and client-focused individual to lead the association management function for our lobbying firm.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides association management and executive level services to multiple clients
  • Serves as liaison to client, nonprofit board(s) keeping them fully informed on the condition of the association and all issues influencing the leadership and its members
  • Facilitates board(s) with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, bylaws and other organizational documents
  • Facilitates board(s) meetings; weekly, quarterly and yearly retreats
  • Develops agendas and minutes for the associations’ board, committee and membership meetings
  • Designs and executes educational initiatives, conferences, events and all other programs
  • Assists with membership recruitment/retention and volunteer/member engagement strategies
  • Develops and maintains annual communications plan and coordinates the distribution of email communications to members and other identified audiences
  • Manages databases, websites, newsletters and social media content
  • Responsible for financials, budgets, accounts receivable/payable and daily ledger
  • Responsible for Political Action Committee accounting and reporting
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years previous association management experience, Certified Association Executive certification, preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance competing projects on tight deadlines
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong budgeting, financial management, analytic skills and the ability to present information in a clear and comprehensive manner to diverse audiences
  • Polished verbal communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, writing and public speaking skills; possess an inspiring and inviting public presence
  • Ability to develop, present, and deliver strategic plans
  • Be a natural relationship builder with the ability to make connections with potential members, sponsors and partners
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Teams, Zoom, QuickBooks) and ability to learn new software easily
  • Ability to attend and travel to association meetings; some evenings and overnights required

  • Expected Salary: Pay range is $70,000 - $80,000. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications
