In Memoriam: J. Clarke Price (1947 - 2022)

Remembrances may be made to Franklin University student scholarships

J. Clarke Price passed from this earth on April 5, 2022 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vicky Stoops Price and their son, A. Zachary Price. He was proceeded in death by his parents, John R. Price and Helen Clarke Price.

Clarke joined the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) in 1972, after serving in the U.S. Army as a Public Information Specialist. He was with the OSCPA for 40 years, leading the organization as CEO for 22 years before his retirement in 2012. Clarke’s vision transformed the Ohio society into the National leader it remains today. He was named to Accounting Today’s list of the 100 most influential people in the accounting profession multiple times, and working with AICPA and other state societies, played a critical role in shaping national policy impacting multiple facets of the profession. He loved diving into his work, and his passion and expertise were clear to all who heard him speak around Ohio and across the nation.

Closer to home, Clarke made it a priority to give those working with him every opportunity to grow professionally. Four of his OSCPA hires went on to be state CPA society CEO’s themselves, and he prided himself on giving all who worked for him opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

He served as Chairman of the board and on several committees within the American Society of Association Executives; was a founding architect of the ASAE CEO Center; and was made an ASAE Fellow, an honor given to less than one percent of ASAE members. He was also the Chair of the Ohio Society of Association Executives (now Ohio Society of Association Professionals) and served as a mentor to countless organization members even after his retirement.

Clarke joined the board of Franklin University in 2010 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2019 through 2021. Clarke was a proud Franklin alumnus. He dedicated his time to underscore the importance of leadership in the non-profit world.

Remembrances to honor Clarke may be made to Franklin University student scholarships. Per his wishes, no services will be held at this time. Donations can be made online at https://Franklin.edu/clarke
