WhatsApp Back Online

Outages occurred in many countries across the world

WhatsApp, the instant messaging app used by more than 2 billion people worldwide, experienced an outage Tuesday morning in many countries, with users in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Asia reporting problems sending and receiving messages.

The issue was fixed later Tuesday, with a spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, saying via email: We have this at the moment:"We know people had trouble sending messages on WhatsApp today. We’ve fixed the issue and apologise for any inconvenience."

Downinspector and Downdetector, which track reports of outages, cited problems with the app in countries across the U.K. and Europe and in Africa and South Asia.
