Nearly 40 Counties Now Included in Ohio Ban on Open Burning Due to Drought

Additional counties may be added if their drought conditions worsen

As the drought continues in Ohio, even more counties have been added to the ongoing open-burning ban.

The ban impacts any county in Ohio identified by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or United States Department of Agriculture as being in the "extreme drought" or "exceptional drought" categories.

The newly added counties are Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Green, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Union and Warren. All of the counties impacted include Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Gallia, Green, Guernsey, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Licking, Logan, Madison, Meigs, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Tuscarawas, Union, Vinton, Warren and Washington.
