Here's how to recognize and combat manager burnout

Daisy Auger-Dominguez is used to hearing employee frustrations and complaints. As a senior HR leader at organizations like VICE Media, Google, Disney and Moody's Corporation, she has heard it all.

In those complaints, Auger-Dominguez saw a consistent problem: disconnect. Managers were so stressed, so tired, that they couldn't even talk to one another. It was, she knew, a clear sign of burnout.

According to a recent survey from The Harris Poll (on behalf of the Grossman Group), more than 63 percent of managers now say they feel burnt out, with more than half strongly agreeing that they are mentally exhausted and overwhelmed.
