A blueprint for solving Central Ohio's housing crisis
The housing crisis in Central Ohio is no longer just a challenge—it's a critical issue that threatens the affordability and accessibility of housing for countless families in our growing region. As a community, we must be prepared to act with urgency, pragmatism, and a willingness to explore every solution on the table.
At the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio (BIA), we remain committed to working with local governments, developers, and community leaders to find solutions that will alleviate the burdens faced by prospective homeowners. The challenges are many, but they are not insurmountable. In fact, the path forward is clear if we are willing to tackle the core barriers to development that stifle housing production and drive-up costs.
The Biggest Obstacles to Housing Development
Let's cut to the chase. The biggest barriers to solving our housing crisis lie in regulatory inefficiencies, outdated zoning laws and unnecessary costs that push housing further out of reach for many.
