What a Trump Win Could Mean for the Economy
Some economists predict his policies could have a negative effect
As former president Donald Trump campaigns for a second term in the White House, he’s made a series of promises about revitalizing the U.S. economy.
His message centers on a radical shift in trade policy, plans to eliminate taxes on tips and Social Security benefits and a proposal to significantly reduce the corporate tax rate. He asserts that these measures will not only restore jobs to American soil but also reduce inflation, a point he emphasizes as many Americans continue to grapple with increased prices.
However, some economists predict that his policies could have the opposite effect of what he envisions, sending inflation skyrocketing. The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment for this story.
