Feeding America CEO Shares Inspirational Message about Service

Her message highlighted the organization's focus no matter the election victor

We [at Feeding America] are each part of something important, something big, meaningful and good. Our shared vision of an America where no one is hungry is achievable, though admittedly not easy. How we endeavor to achieve it will be consequential to the outcome. You have heard me say—and I know it to be true—that people facing hunger must be at the center of all we do. Their expertise, experiences and voices are our true north. As Election Day nears, this imperative cannot be overstated. In our roles as anti-hunger champions, we must rise above politics, outlast the news cycle and seek to inspire all people to stand together in a movement to end hunger.

This does not mean that Feeding America will shy away from advancing proven policies that support people facing hunger, like SNAP and the Child Tax Credit. To the contrary, we are deeply committed to advocacy aligned with neighbor priorities. And, while we know that we cannot do everything and that our messages might never resonate with everyone, we will continue to use our platforms to work alongside people facing hunger toward this end.

The upcoming elections will bring leadership changes, but they will not change the uniting truth that everyone deserves the food they need to thrive. Hunger transcends political parties.

Feeding America’s position continues to be simple and consistent: We stand firmly alongside people facing hunger. We are committed to working with all elected and appointed officials to advance policies and programs that support the tens of millions of people experiencing food insecurity in every community in the U.S.

So, where will people facing hunger find us on Election Day? And the day after that? And the day after that? They should never need to wonder where we stand. The answer must always be, we stand with them.
