Communications & Marketing Manager

The Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association (OHLA), now in its 132nd year of operation, offers an opportunity to drive communications, social media, websites and marketing output for one of one of Ohio’s major industry organizations. OVMA is seeking a director of meetings & events.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the CEO and will conduct the following:

  • Serve as the lead on communications and content creation including email and multiple social media channels
  • Manage websites, including industry and consumer-facing platforms
  • Collaborate directly with sales and meetings/events teams to maximize our potential and our results
  • Help nurture and maintain strategic partnerships
  • Monitor reach and engagement, and
  • Assist in ensuring the overall smooth operation of a nimble and dynamic organization

OHLA provides advocacy, information, resources, programs and education for operators and professionals in every type of lodging business across the state. OHLA works to grow Ohio’s travel economy, provide jobs for hospitality professionals and maintain a growing and prosperous hotel and lodging market.

This multi-faceted opportunity allows you to be creative and innovative while providing direct interaction with hotel owners, managers and operators; companies supporting hotel businesses; other travel economy entities; partners in philanthropic and charitable endeavors; anti-human trafficking and more.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a four-year degree or equivalent, with preference for:
    • A focus in academic disciplines related to duties of this position
    • Familiarity with membership or customer database tools
    • Use of social media and email platforms
    • Knowledge of basic website management
    • Use of design/publishing software and
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Helpful attributes include:
    • Customer service experience
    • Event management experience
    • Business writing skills
    • Follow-through and attention to detail
    • Association experience or hotel/hospitality experience highly considered.

This is a high energy, full-time, salaried position in our (on-site) new downtown Columbus, Ohio office with occasional travel in state.
