Ravenna Schools Closing an Elementary School after Academic Year
The action is part of a larger, district-wide consolidation plan
The Ravenna School District announced in a Facebook post that it is closing its West Park Elementary School at the end of the current school year. Read the post below:
Due to declining enrollment and the need to make fiscally responsible choices for the future of our district, the Ravenna School District Board of Education made the tough decision to close West Park School at the end of this current academic year. As part of this plan, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, all kindergarten students who would have attended West Park will instead be enrolled at Willyard Elementary School. Kindergarten will remain all day. This shift will help maximize the resources available to our students while maintaining the high standard of education that we strive to provide.
This decision, made after careful consideration and planning, is part of a larger, district-wide consolidation plan aimed at strengthening the overall sustainability of our schools. Over the past few years, we have seen a steady decline in enrollment, and as a result, we must adapt to the current and future needs of our community in a way that allows us to continue providing a high-quality education for all students across Ravenna.
