Boeing Will Develop High-tech Fighter Jet

It will eventually replace the Air Force’s F-22

On Friday, President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that Boeing is the Pentagon’s choice to develop the U.S. military’s next high-tech fighter jet. The military has dubbed the jet the F-47 — Trump is the nation’s 47th president — to eventually replace the Air Force’s F-22.

During an Oval Office appearance, Trump described the new high-tech aircraft as “virtually un-seeable” and having “unprecedented power,” suggesting it could give the United States an advantage over adversaries and allies.

Separately Friday, Elon Musk visited the Pentagon to receive a briefing by Defense Department leaders focused on the billionaire’s work to slash the U.S. government bureaucracy and on the threat posed by China, people familiar with the matter said.
