White House Indicates It's Not Pursuing Executive Order on Nonprofit Tax Status at This Time
Multiple media outlets have reported this in the past 24 hours
The Ohio Society of Association Professionals (OSAP) has learned, alongside the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) that multiple media outlets have confirmed, over the past 24 hours, that the Trump administration's White House stated it is not at this time drafting an executive order targeting the tax-exempt status of any nonprofit organization.
This is great news; however, we must remain cautious, per ASAE and its lobbyists, as we know the tax landscape evolves rapidly.
OSAP and ASAE support the First Amendment rights of associations and nonprofits to pursue their missions and emphasizes that any Internal Revenue Service (IRS) action must follow due process.
While the White House has said it is not currently pursuing this action, the situation could change. OSAP, as a member of the Community Impact Coalition, which we encourage you to join, will continue to monitor developments and keep members informed.
