Measles Risk Closes an Ohio Preschool
Columbus Public Health confirmed four measles cases
A preschool in the New Albany-Plain Local School District will remain closed for the rest of the week after possible measles exposure, as health officials work to contain a growing outbreak in central Ohio.
Columbus Public Health confirmed four measles cases — two adults and two children between the ages of 1 and 6 — all within one Columbus household. One of the children was hospitalized. Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts said her team is coordinating with Franklin County Public Health to track exposures and prevent further spread.
"Now we have four cases. All four of our cases currently reside in one household," Roberts said. "We're working with the schools and others to protect those who were exposed by quarantining individuals who aren't up to date on their vaccines."
