It's Not Okay for Members to Treat Their Organizations as Whipping Boys

Too frequently, members fail to see the need for boundaries

Membership organizations exist to serve, represent and empower their members. Yet, in too many boardrooms and inboxes, the people running those organizations find themselves on the receiving end of cynicism, contempt or even outright hostility.

We are not talking about healthy challenge or constructive disagreement but a creeping normalization of poor behavior. Staff being called at midnight for meeting minutes. Volunteers being verbally bullied in front of others. Members publicly questioning motives or integrity.

Let's bust some myths and start setting boundaries.
