President-elect Donald Trump continued his flurry of personnel announcements on Wednesday by naming Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida as his pick for attorney general, a surprise decision to make one of his fiercest defenders as his nominee for the country's top law enforcement official.
The announcement came as Trump made a return to the seat of American power that he begrudgingly left four years ago, meeting with President Joe Biden in the Oval Office and observing a decades-old tradition he himself defied four years ago when he refused to accept his actual 2020 loss.
Republicans are poised to carry out what Trump has vowed will be a sweeping agenda.
