The Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO), founded in 1936, is a nonprofit professional association representing public school district treasurers/CFOs, business managers, and other school business officials across Ohio. Based in Columbus, OASBO supports members through advocacy, collaboration, and professional development, while offering group savings and investment programs for school districts.

Description of the role:

Financial Operations:

Manage collections, receivables, payables, revenue account reconciliations and month-end journal entries.
Assist with accounting transactions and payroll processing in the CFO’s absence.
Prepare financial reports and assist with monthly financial close activities.
Assist in the preparation of the five-year forecast, including data analysis and strategic alignment.

Compliance and Auditing:

Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations, including IRS requirements for 501(c)(6) organizations.
Assist with the preparation of annual audits and tax filings, providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.
Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
Recommend improvements to financial processes and controls.
Document and streamline financial processes to support continuity and succession planning.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the chief financial officer (CFO) and executive director (ED).

Qualifications

Accounting degree.
Nonprofit or association experience preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, internet and database systems.
Must have experience with accounting software systems. Experience with association management software, such as MemberSuite, is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Remote working or hybrid experience preferred.

Salary range $55,000-$75,000
